Euan's main areas of work are in:-
- Business Sales and Purchases. Euan was nominated in 1994 in "Euromoney"
(an independent publication) as one of the World's leading Merger and
Acquisition lawyers. He was one of the UK three lawyers only who were
nominated for this singular honour outside the City of London. He
concentrates on the owner-managed business.
- Commercial Contracts, E-Commerce , Intellectual Property and
Commercial Mediation. All these form part of a seamless service to business
clients, and many are inter-linked in practice.
- International Trade. Euan was one of the 1990 founders of a
European international lawyers network of English speaking business lawyers
called "Eurolegal". Access to other network member firms across Western and
Central Europe has proved vital when negotiating and conducting cross-border
joint ventures and corporate work. From 1995-1998 Euan was its Chairman and
thus has extremely wide experience of the legal minefield of European Law
throughout the EU. He is currently its Honorary President after his
retirement as a full time practising solicitor.
Euan's role in the international area is to smooth the path for
UK business clients doing business abroad. He can meet a business in
the UK for initial instructions and thus speed up the process for
the foreign lawyer's advice on the foreign law, regulations and
trading practices, having detailed first-hand local information.
Euan blends that into the UK business’s UK requirements as part of
our seamless service.
In 1990 Euan was accredited by ADR Group as a Commercial Mediator
and nominated in 2011 as a national "leader in the field" by
Chambers Directory, (an independent publication). This was not a
'first' for Euan as he had been nominated similarly in previous
years.
Euan frequently writes and speaks on European and UK Competition
Law topics, on E-commerce topics, and has published two books on
European Public Procurement Law.
Having well-established and regularly working cross-border links
with 21 other law firms in 14 European countries, with some 550
lawyers practising in all areas of business, is a plus for UK
companies who may wish to expand their business interests abroad.
Euan's interests include umpiring Hockey matches and he has an
abiding interest in Western and Central European history.
